Winning the Golden Lion Award by Elise Semko

The women of Xi chapter had a positively "golden" fall semester this year. On October 24, 2021, the Ohio University chapter of Alpha Delta Pi made great strides as an upstanding Greek organization with its first-time recognition as a Golden Lion recipient. The Golden Lion award is the highest honor that a chapter can receive. It recognizes chapters that meet the highest standards and are considered Alpha Delta Pi’s First and Finest, a motto that the organization strongly upholds. Xi chapter received this award based on its performance in the 2020 formal recruitment process, as well as for member retention, engagement in other campus organizations, community service, and chapter GPA. There are currently 161 active college campus chapters between the United States and Canada. Xi chapter was one of 23 chapters from this total to be awarded a Golden Lion for the year 2020. The members of Xi chapter look forward to being recognized at the 2022 Alpha Delta Pi Grand Convention.

Upon my graduation from Ohio University this year, I am so proud to leave behind a chapter full of members who truly care about Alpha Delta Pi’s academic standards and want to build Xi chapter to be better than ever before. I am overjoyed to have helped capture the true essence of Greek life on Ohio’s campus, I am confident that our chapter will only continue to grow and flourish in the coming years. I will forever hold my 4 years in Alpha Delta Pi and the memory of winning the Golden Lion award close to my heart.
